Made over several years.
On foot. Usually alone.

Twelve plates.

I have photographed food and the people who make it for twenty years. Trees are the work I do for myself.

These are the ones I keep going back to. Maples in a garden. Live oaks. Cypress standing in black water. One dead tree on a hill. None of them were assignments. Each one took more than one visit.

Open editions are unlimited. The edition of twenty-five is numbered, with a certificate I sign.

Every plate prints full frame, in four sizes, on the same paper. The large ones are the point.

Edition of 25

Twenty-five per plate, numbered: five at 40 x 60, seven at 30 x 45, thirteen at 24 x 36. A certificate of authenticity, signed by me, is mailed separately from Charleston.

Notes on the edition

Release Elders, Release One. Twelve plates, black and white.

Print Archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Torchon, 285 gsm. Made to order.

Sizes 12 x 18, 24 x 36, 30 x 45 and 40 x 60 inches.

Open edition Unsigned and unlimited, in all four sizes, on the same paper.

Edition of 25 Twenty-five numbered prints of each plate: five at 40 x 60, seven at 30 x 45 and thirteen at 24 x 36. 12 x 18 is open edition only.

Numbering Each size is numbered on its own, in order of sale.

Certificate The prints are not signed. I sign a certificate naming the plate, size and number, and mail it separately from Charleston.

The paper Hahnemühle Torchon . 285 gsm

A heavy, irregular surface. Blacks sit deeper in it.

Torchon has a coarse, uneven surface that suits black and white: the shadows go down and the highlights stay clean. The surface is matte, with very little glare. The paper is acid-free and lignin-free, made to the ISO 9706 permanence standard. Like any print on paper, it keeps best out of direct sun.

Prints are made to order and arrive unframed.

What to expect after you order.

Made to order: Each print is made when you order it and ships within ten business days.
Unframed: Every print ships unframed. Unpack it flat and let the paper rest a day.
Returns: Made-to-order prints are not returnable. If one arrives damaged, send a photograph within seven days and a replacement is printed at no charge.
